FAQ

What is Church?

Church is the gathering of God’s people. As Baptists we believe each individual congregation with duly elected pastors, that administer the ordinances is an expression of the body of Christ, but also one part of the larger body of Christ, the Church Catholic (or universal).

What do we believe?

At New Beith Baptist we are a bible believing, Christ proclaiming, Christian Church of the Baptist variety. We hold to the historical teaching of the church with regards to the nature of the Godhead, the authority of the scriptures and the necessity to be saved by faith in the work of Jesus Christ. A summary of our position can be found in the historical Apostle’s Creed:

I believe in God, the Father almighty,
      creator of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit
and born of the virgin Mary.
      He suffered under Pontius Pilate,
      was crucified, died, and was buried;
      he descended to hell.
The third day he rose again from the dead.
      He ascended to heaven
and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty.
From there he will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,
      the holy catholic* church,
      the communion of saints,
      the forgiveness of sins,
      the resurrection of the body,
      and the life everlasting. Amen.

If you have questions about any of this, or any of our beliefs, check out the sermons page or email pastor Matt, we would love to talk to you!

Do i have to be a christian to go to church?

Definitely not! All are welcome to attend. Non-believers can come to church, but only believers are a part of the Church. If you would like to come along and experience some good old-fashioned Christianity, then you are welcome to come to New Beith. Membership and such is for confessing and baptized believers, but services are for all who would like to come.
